SHINING brightly in the golden state with its West Coast charm is The Maybourne Beverly Hills. Situated in Los Angeles’ Golden Triangle, with its warm and distinctively chic style, it’s exactly how I imagined classic Californian luxury to feel and look like.

The Maybourne Beverly Hills exterior

I am warmly welcomed by the landmark property’s soothing pastel palettes, spanning nine floors with sun filled balconies, overlooking verdant gardens dotted with swaying palm trees and fragrant foliage. Being perfectly placed just steps from the legendary Rodeo Drive, known as one of the most exclusive luxury destinations, it’s no wonder the property radiates the same vibe.

The Maybourne Cafe

Despite being in the hustle and bustle of the city, The Maybourne proves to be a superior space to unwind. Comfort is a hallmark of the property which means that the spa takes centre stage, home to the mineral pool, steam rooms and countless relaxation areas. The quiet cocoon also offers treatments to pamper, regenerate or simply to indulge in some much needed ‘me time’, utilising only the purest ingredients including products from EviDenS de Beauté.

Rooftop pool

The most impressive is the rooftop pool. The panoramic views of the rolling hills of Hollywood can be enjoyed from your chaise lounge, while sipping on aperitivo-style cocktails from the beloved restaurant and bar, Dante Beverly Hills.

Cigar Whiskey bar

Nestled in the lobby of the hotel you’ll find The Maybourne Bar. The bar boasts an exceptional wine list and a cocktail menu filled with classic and new creations, all handcrafted by our bartenders with the freshest ingredients and finest spirits. Vibrant and unforgettable, I would argue this hidden jewel of the property is the best bar in LA.

Terrace Suite

Guestrooms and suites here at The Maybourne have been artfully designed to have bright, spacious interiors and bespoke furniture. My suite features homely touches to ensure a restful stay, details from curated library collections to the plushest slippers elevates relaxation. Early morning wake up’s are worth it here, with views of the sunrise lighting up the Los Angeles skyline – a sight I would never get tired of.

A double room inclusive of tax starts at $1,091.21 ($895.00 exclusive of tax) per night.

DECADES of history alone makes Great Scotland Yard a one-of-a-kind hotel and being tucked away on a quiet road just down from Trafalgar Square, it’s an extraordinary property within the heart of the city.

Upon arrival, dressed in traditional Police inspired uniform are the concierge team, who greet me with a warm welcome. Once home to the Metropolitan Police, the property’s stories and memoirs are celebrated throughout the hotel, with antiques and bespoke artwork taking over the walls.

King room

The unique character of Great Scotland Yard is transferred from the lobby to the 158 rooms and suites. Thoughtful restoration balances the traditional qualities of a classic British townhouse with modern influences.

My cosy room is surrounded by elegant furnishings, featuring a comfortable King bed and luxury bathroom. For me, the bathroom is the jewel of the room as I have never seen a more inviting walk-in shower.

Whisky tasting at Síbín

Away from their lavish rooms, the ground floor of the hotel is host to a range of appealing dining options. From old Nordic cooking techniques by Michelin starred chef Niklas Ekstedt at Ekstedt at The Yard, to afternoon tea at The Parlour.

The most memorable being the illicit speakeasy bar, Síbín. Hidden in plain sight behind a bookcase wall, this whisky bar set in a sophisticated room is a relaxing space for evening drinks and intimate jazz nights.

Cocktail at Síbín

Whisky masterclasses are what they’re known for here and Ivan, our whisky sommelier for the evening, guides us on an inquisitive odyssey. “The Explorer,” is a masterclass which takes guests through the origin and stories of whisky, unveiling global flavours from a carefully curated selection from Japan, Mexico and Scotland to name a few.

After finishing our enlightening expedition, we enjoy the rest of the night filled with music and cocktails in the chill out lounge, before heading back to our room for a peaceful slumber.

AMONGST cold, stony backdrops and weathered city monuments, a solitary figure carves out her own narrative.

Positioned within the muted tones of a bustling city backdrop, she inhabits concealed corners and overlooked alcoves, spaces quietly charged, steeped in time, and tucked away from the city’s main thoroughfares. The tension between her poised stillness and the city’s unceasing rhythm. Several moments are captured in time and a fragment of a larger, elusive story.

KNOWN as a city rich in history and architecture and being home to one of the world’s most famous universities, it’s no surprise that Cambridge is a sought-after destination both internationally and locally. There’s a certain cosy charm in this city that makes it so different from frenetic London, plus an abundance of eateries and sights to see.

Hilton Cambridge City Centre exterior

Hilton Cambridge City Centre, as the name suggests, is conveniently located in the hub of it all. Just a short stroll away, you can find yourself in front of the city’s well-known sights such as the River Cam and the Cambridge Market Square, as well as transport links to attractions further afield.

Bull & Bass restaurant

All 198 flawlessly elegant guest rooms and suites at Hilton Cambridge are air conditioned and include the essential modern amenities. For my stay in one of the King Suites, I am welcomed by a fruit basket and wine, along with a mini-fridge stocked with soft drinks and snacks, a Nespresso machine for those well needed coffee top-ups, and robes and slippers for lounging in ultimate comfort.

King Junior Suite

In addition to its welcoming rooms, the hotel also offers culinary delights, ranging from a fresh breakfast buffet to dinner in the relaxing atmosphere of the Bull & Bass Restaurant, where dishes are inspired by British cuisine.

After a day of exploring the city, this is the place I am happily drawn to. After enjoying a delectable meal, I find myself ensconced in the irresistible Piano Bar, with its comfy seating and live music. It’s not long before I am sinking into my chair, enjoying music from the resident pianist and winding down for the night.

HELD on the grounds of the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, the biannual Taipei Fashion Week (TPEFW) welcomed Taiwanese and international guests to the latest fashion spectacle, with shows spanning from 16 to 22 October.

The atmosphere was energetic and charged with excitement, and a sense of community was felt as the countries politicians, sporting legends and celebrities joined together for this spectacle.

TPEFW is a stage to present the countries artistic history, exploring the local craftsmanship, aesthetics, and innovation. The country is well known for their textile industry, and it was evident on the runway.

TPEFW SS25 Opening show ‘Taiwan Type Illustrated Fashion Book’

Commencing TPEFW SS25 is the Opening show ‘Taiwan Type Illustrated Fashion Book’. Launched by The Ministry of Culture, the show featured collaborations between six fashion brands and six Taiwanese image creators .67ARROW x @saitemiss, #DAMUR x @weiweiboy, DYCTEAM x @raimochi, RAY CHU x @mich_un, Story Wear x @chimney_animation, TANGTSUNGCHIEN x @sammi_00712.

As one of the strongest shows of the week, these collaborations brought to life bold and beautiful creative expressions one after another. The show was presented to the audience on a dynamic runway, with looks inspired from artwork created by the designers collaborative graphic IP talent.

TPEFW has been known for having an ongoing mission of fostering cross-disciplinary collaborations, and for this year TPEFW decided to connect fashion designers with illustrators to bridge the gap, as Minister of Culture Sue Wang expressed, with a goal to reach a different viewership of Taiwan and hoping to resonate with the younger audience.

.67ARROW X SAITEMISS

To increase the events following, the opening show added a public session allowing fashion enthusiasts to attend the event. All 700 spots were filled within just nine minutes of registration, reflecting the market’s strong appetite and support for TPEFW.

In addition to the runway presentation, a public exhibition ‘Taiwan Type Super Swag’ was hosted from 17 October to 21 October 2024. The cross-boundary art exhibition was an opportunity for the Taiwanese to explore the collections, and acted as a direct contact with a broader audience.

It was also clear that for this season, there was a focus on the values of freedom and inclusiveness, with designers having the freedom to express themselves and even to the models where inclusivity and representation were present. Particularly with Olympic gold medalist Lin Yu-Ting participating as a model, who completely captivated the hearts of the audience.

TANGTSUNGCHIEN x 夏 仙 Sammi

The rest of the week saw 13 established and emerging labels fill the schedule in Taipei with individual shows, telling the story of Taiwanese-style fashion. Each designer brought their unique style and flair to present memorable spectacles.

Highly anticipated JENN LEE presented the label’s spring-summer 2025 collection, capturing the vibrant energy of childhood nostalgia in an underground bar setting. Titled ‘Echoes of Youth’, the collection is a playful yet emotional exploration of retro aesthetics, reflecting the theme of blending nostalgia with bold expression.

For this season, JENN LEE transformed the simple act of crumpling paper into organic shapes and silhouettes that define her collection. The accessories in this collection also capture a sense of sentimental rebellion, drawing from the experience of discovering forgotten treasures in old pockets— receipts, random trinkets, and ordinary objects.

For TPEFW SS25, established label Seivson makes a powerful return to Taipei, bringing the brand’s eerie, avant-garde aesthetic to the runway. The collection, titled ‘TRACES’, explores the concept of marks left behind by female growth.

Deconstructed silhouettes took over the runway, with ripped and reformed fabric to represent how the female body can break and repair. Standout pieces include the reimagining of the classic trench coat with unique pleating techniques, layered jackets and mini skirts paired with everyday items.

SEIVSON SS25

Taiwanese designer Damur Huang filled an evening with energy as he refocuses his attention on “love” in his latest collection. Collaborating with JSJ Entertainment, 13 artists and singers were invited to interpret their love stories through music.

#DAMUR’s SS25 collection focuses on deconstructing gender stereotypes and embracing self-identified values, using his fearless Berlin attitude to create bold designs dedicated to redefining traditional images of masculinity and femininity.

#DAMUR SS25

#DAMUR’s SS25

TPEFW wasn’t just centred around a series of runway shows, but the event also saw them team up with Breeze Xinyi to launch a new fashion Select Shop.

Located on the 3rd floor of the department store, the shop brings together a wide array of Taiwanese notable brands, showcasing everything from renowned international names to emerging designers. The shop will run for three months from October until the end of the year in a bid to continue the noise of TPEFW.

As a trendsetter in Taiwan’s fashion scene, TPEFW elevates the city’s fashion atmosphere and acts as a core platform for promoting the development of the fashion industry. With an integration of a global vision with local culture, TPEFW encourages the growth of designers and emerging brands, with its cultural and creative industries to strengthen Taiwan’s’ position in the global fashion map.

Looking ahead, TPEFW will likely continue to drive interdisciplinary collaboration to help Taiwan’s fashion shine even brighter in the international market, and become one to look out for in the fashion landscape.

“ARE you ready for the mains now?,” I hear as I take what I thought was my last mouthful of Greek mezze. If there’s only one thing I learn, it’s that you will never go hungry at a Greek table. Greek culture is heavy on warm hospitality and the act of sharing, not only in food but also its rich history, arts and experiences.

Domes encompasses this vision, offering seamless bespoke guest journeys, curated exclusively for each individual guest.

Domes Noruz Mykonos outdoor lobby

My island-hopping experience begins in vibrant Mykonos, part of the stunning Cyclades island chain southeast of mainland Greece. Perched in the picturesque Agios Stefanos with views of Chora is where you will find Domes Noruz Mykonos, a gated neighbourhood of volcanic sugar-cube architecture, blended effortlessly into the Aegean vista. Interiors, from the outdoor lobby to the 38 suites, are a harmonious blend of earthy tones with elements of rattan and natural wood.

Although Mykonos is a celebrated nightlife destination, the island offers much more and, with the concierge team of Mykonos specialists, you’ll be in safe hands. We start the day exploring the islands of Delos and Rhenia by boat, followed by a visit to Rizes Folklore Farmstead to discover Mykonos’ roots and sample the unique local cuisine before ending the day with sunsets and energetic music at the famous beach club, Scorpios.

From a lively island to, as the locals would describe as a romantic island, our journey takes me to Santorini, with its mega high cliffs and volcanic rocks forming a striking landscape, making it hard not to fill your phone with scenic photos.

We make our way north of the island, to Tholos, Oia, through serene landscapes and untouched beauty to arrive at the newly built haven, Domes Novos Santorini. Architecturally striking, the hotel boasts 50 suites and two villas, each with its own private pool and terrace. From my suite, only local vineyards stand between me and the Aegean Sea, and it’s a view that I won’t be forgetting any time soon.

If you’re looking for elevated gastronomy, Vatanee is the place to take a seat. Here, chef Dionysis Anastopoulos brings to life the essence of the Greek mezze culture with delectable small plates for sharing, all with a concept of zero-waste and picking from local produce and the hotel’s gardens.

Domes Novos Santorini Novos Villa Sea View with Blissful Pool

Each Domes property offers an “experience” to mark its individuality. At Domes Novos Santorini, we embark on an enriching artistic journey, with an introduction to Santorini’s finest wines and a painting workshop of the spectacular sunset.

Domes Novos Santorini Senses Bungalow Sea View with Zen Pool

As with all Domes’ hotels, wellness is a central component and signature amenities include the Soma Spa, where you can indulge in volcanic-infused treatments. What better way to treat myself before leaving behind the distinctive Cycladic charm of Santorini?
