London’s newly refurbished Radio Rooftop Bar reopens its doors

FOLLOWING A series of exciting refurbishments, Radio Rooftop Bar at ME London has just reopened its doors to the public. Situated on the 10th floor of one of The Strand‘s iconic hotels, Radio offers guests panoramic views of London’s eclectic skyline, Asian-inspired drinks and sharing plates, and live music.

Paying homage to London’s heritage, the bar is split into zones named after the landmarks that they overlook including City, River, Covent Garden, and Sunset. Bernard Caroll, the brain behind the restaurant’s interiors, has carefully intertwined classical sophistication with playful, contemporary luxury ideals to create a refreshed space.

For example, bespoke coral reef wallpaper from Adam Ellis Studio adorns the surroundings, whereas furnishings appear in natural, soft hues, complimenting the bar’s marble surfaces.

The menu itself has been similarly transformed. Ushering in a new chapter for the bar, Senior General Manager Daniel Susko has worked alongside his team of mixologists to curate a new series of Asian-inspired cocktails for Radio. Having previously built his wealth of experience working at Annabel’s, SushiSamba and Soho House, Susko utilises sous vide technology to enhance the drinks’ flavours.

Menu stand-outs include the Bee’s Knees – a sweet-sour blend of Ukiyo yuzu gin, La Yuzu liqueur, honey, pineapple, miso, pressed lemon and yuzu bitters – and the Tokyo Rose – a fragrant choice featuring Ukiyo Blossom gin, Lanique Spirit of Rose, lychee, raspberry, watermelon and pressed lime.

However, the bar also offers food with a generous selection of modern Asian sharing plates. Spearheaded by Executive Chef Federico Crisafulli, the all-day menu offers snacks, sushi, seared and raw dishes, tempura ensembles and other classics such as spicy tuna maki rolls with avocado, roast king scallops with XO sauce, Japanese wagyu beef tataki with shitake & truffle ponzu and Tiger prawn ‘katsu’ donburi.

Having previously worked as the Executive Chef of the Italian Embassy in Tokyo, the Head Chef at Intercontinental Yokohama in Japan and the Michelin-starred Grand Hotel in Rome, Crisafulli’s expertise is further showcased in the Chef’s tasting Menu. Available to book in advance, guests can enjoy a range of Chef Federico’s signature dishes alongside a luxury wine pairing from Sommelier Giuseppe Bergonzi.
