Among the most practical, versatile and indispensable furnishings not only in residential but also in commercial contexts are modern-style coffee tables.

Characterised by innovative designs, they are perfectly suited to all rooms in the house – from the living room to the bedroom – as well as offices, hospitality facilities, professional offices and so on. By choosing the right models and placing them next to armchairs and sofas, but also next to a wall or in the middle of the room, it is possible to give rooms that extra touch of class and personality that can really make the difference.

Among the best collections of high-end designer side tables are those proposed by B&B Italia, a made-in-Italy company that is part of the Flos B&B Italia Group. The brand’s products, created in collaboration with internationally renowned architects and designers, stand out in the design furniture scene for their unique shapes, capable of representing contemporary culture on the one hand and anticipating trends on the other.

Furnishing homes and offices with modern side tables

Modern coffee tables are true must-haves for environments that aim to sublimely combine aesthetics and functionality, winking at the contemporary.

Designed to be tastefully furnished, they do not renounce their function as table tops on which to place coffee and tea cups, vases and furnishing accessories or table lamps, newspapers and books, so as to make rooms even more pleasant and relaxing.

Precisely for this reason, they can be placed not only in the living room of the home – an environment in which it is literally unfailing -, but also in offices and waiting rooms, in lobbies and the most luxurious hotel rooms, in high-fashion ateliers and, in general, in all spaces destined for reception and relaxation.

Of course, to achieve an impressive result it is essential to pay attention to style, colour, design and materials. In the choice, nothing must be left to chance, and everything must blend in the best possible way with the context.

Designer side tables by B&B Italia

An international leader in the high-end furniture sector, B&B Italia includes in its catalogue modern coffee tables with irresistible charm, characterised by original shapes and made of often innovative materials. The wide choice makes it easy to find the most suitable model – also in terms of colour and size – for any residential or commercial setting.

Among the most iconic models are the Fat-Fat and Lady-Fat coffee tables, designed by Patricia Urquiola and characterised by a light, essential and refined shape in the former and a soft and feminine design in the latter, which also serves as storage. Also worth mentioning are the Alanda coffee table – designed, with its bold, geometric shapes, by Paolo Piva in the 1980s and revisited in recent years in a contemporary key -, Frank by Antonio Citterio and Spoon by Piero Lissoni.

Awa by Naoto Fukasawa, the tables with plastic lines and an irresistible surface

Unique in form, but above all for the material quality that distinguishes it, is the Awa collection, created for B&B Italia by designer Naoto Fukasawa.

Characterised by a plastic, sensual and pleasantly asymmetrical design, the Awa coffee tables combine functionality and design in a refined way to create high-level support surfaces, able to integrate perfectly into all environments furnished in a modern and contemporary style.

The two variants available are respectively made of hard polyurethane, a resistant material that offers a wide range of colours in both glossy and satin finishes, and white Cristalplant®; this material gives the coffee table a surface that is very resistant and easy to clean, but also soft to the touch, ideal for a complete sensory experience.

NORTH NORFOLK’S Holkham Hall, the grand 18th-century country house near the village of Holkham, is once again embracing Christmas as it has undergone its annual creative transformation for the festive season.

The stately hall, which is set within 25,000 acres on the coast, proves to be a magical location for Christmas – think sparkling lights, opulent decorations, and scents of the festive season for Holkham Hall by Candlelight.

Expect a whole host of experiences, with a festive programme that includes An Audience with Father Christmas, The Christmas Market, Canine Carol Service, Carols in the Courtyard, and craft workshops with local and national makers.

Holkham Hall

The showstopper event, Holkham Hall by Candlelight, which runs until the 30th of December, offers a beautiful candlelit tour of the house, and it’s the perfect opportunity to explore the exquisitely decorated state rooms.

Every year, each room narrates a unique story that’s brought together thanks to a diverse group of talented artists and makers, with The Countess of Leicester and Catherine Zoll, Holkham’s Christmas Coordinator, spearheading the concept.

Interior of Holkham Hall

Catherine explains, “This year I am really looking forward to combining our traditional Christmas decorating techniques like floristry and baking with incredibly modern technologies such as digital mapping. Commissioning a gingerbread Holkham Hall, alongside the chance to animate some of our roman statues from the 1st to 2nd centuries is particularly exciting.”

Here, visitors are able to roam the rooms, on a self-led tour with Hall guides stationed in each room to share inspiration behind each installation. Beginning in the spectacular Marble Hall, complete with live music, before exploring the state rooms that have been transformed into stage sets, with a festive theme in mind.

Highlights include a show-stopping Christmas pudding by LillyPuds, a celebration of the gardener’s favourite bird, the robin, as well as statement tablescapes and plenty of locally grown Christmas trees and elegant ornaments that have been specially selected from European Christmas fairs.

The pièce de résistance? Well, it has to be Holkham’s 20ft Christmas tree that sits in the grand Saloon. It’s sourced from local growers at Salle Estate, and adorned with decorations in a warm palette of oranges, pinks and plums, and is set amongst magnificent mantels, created with help from the Fakenham and District Flower Club.

New for this year, Holkham has collaborated with Spectacular Projections on a 3D projection to the ‘crystal and ice’ themed Statue Gallery for an immersive festive experience. Local sound and lighting providers, Audio Resolution have created a sound experience in the Chapel, where visitors can reflect and enjoy the surroundings.

The tour finishes in the Old Kitchen, where there’s a huge ‘Gingerbread Holkham Hall’ created in collaboration with food artist Emily Garland. A feast for the eyes and the senses, with a perfectly festive theme.

‘TIS the season for entertaining, whether it’s chic drinks soirées or feasting with the family, decorating the house with a festive-theme, and setting a welcoming table adds to the merriment. And the woman to help you set a deliciously tasteful tone is Whitney Bromberg Hawkings, along with her new FLOWERBX Christmas collection.

Having worked at Tom Ford, she founded FLOWERBX ten years ago, and has supplied leading fashion houses, including Dior, Bottega and Jimmy Choo, with gorgeous floral arrangements. Now Christmas is approaching, the festive collection had dropped online – offering everything from centrepieces to planters, and of course, Christmas tress and wreaths.

To celebrate the occasion, Whitney, who knows a thing or two about throwing chic parties, and has shared her festive tablescaping guide that’ll impress your guests.

Add maximum interest with minimal florals

Using our Bailey bud vases to create depth, different levels, and dramatic definition is a wonderful way to work with fewer stems, as they epitomise luxury with just two to three per vase. The trick is keeping your stems at a variety of heights for vases full of volume, as shown with our selection of roses and hypericum.

Bring the tones of your tablescape to the rest of the room

Adorn your walls, doorframe, or mantle with our Red Berry garland and Red Berry Wreath to perfectly mirror the accents of your dining set-up.

Add extra festive touches to your table

Borrow from aspects of your Red Berry Garland by highlighting seasonal berries or hypericum as individual floral place settings. This not only helps tie your entire table together but adds a personal touch that every guest can take home with them, too.

Let your garland take centre stage

A table made with nature-lovers in mind, get ready as our free-flowing Red Berry Garland takes centre stage. Styling her could not be simpler, and the festive sparkle can be dialled up or down depending on your desired look. We have chosen to weave our wreath around ruby-red taper candles, but you could also opt for tonal florals in bud vases.

SAY THE words ‘Mayfair’ and ‘Member’s Club’ and it’s most likely one of the Birley portfolio’s spots that springs to mind.

Mark’s Club, the cornerstone property of the illustrious group, has long reigned as an affluent and quintessentially British haunt in central London. Since opening as an alternative Gentlemen’s Club in 1972, Mark’s Club has welcomed a crowd of Londoners who enjoy an English refinery akin to the country’s 18th-century glamour.

Mark’s Club Lounge

Mark’s Club Terrace

This September, Mark’s Club reopened its doors following a carefully-considered refurbishment and redesign. Floor plans have opened up and new Old Master artwork has been introduced to amp up the regality of each space. Overseen by Richard Caring, the result is nothing if not elegantly extravagant.

As soon as you enter Mark’s House (via a discreet entrance on Charles Street, in keeping with the privacy of the members-only guestlist) a new open plan layout as well as a newly-acquired George Stubbs painting greet you.

Mark’s Club Drawing Room

Downstairs, the Living Room takes on a new identity as a light-filled sanctuary with the recently uncovered traditional mantelpiece warming the room. Upstairs in the Drawing Room, members will still be able to divulge in a traditional Afternoon Tea or early aperitif by the open fire – a covetable spot on a cold London winter evening.

Mark’s Club Dining Room

The Dining Room will still serve its classic menu, filled with all of the club favourites, including the Mark’s Club Salad, Crepe Suzette, as well as the Loch Duart Smoked Salmon and Dover Sole carved tableside.

The newly added light-flooded and plant-filled Green House also offers silver-service, offering comforting plates of Beef Fillet and Fish & Chips in the winter and a retractable roof in the summer months.

Mark’s Club Green House

From the vibrant wallpaper against the printed curtains in the Dining Room all the way through to the lantern-strung Green House and the huge bouquets of fresh flowers in every room, characteristic traits of Richard Caring’s creative touch sing against the traditional architecture of the Mayfair townhouse.

The result: Mark’s Club is an elegant ode to British countryside tradition in the heart of the capital.

The arrival of winter brings with it the sweetness of the holiday season, such as the scent of cinnamon, gingerbread, chocolate and the strong flavour of dried fruit. With the complicity of the cold weather and the holidays spent together with friends and family, this season is full of sweet treats. And what better represents winter sweets, elegance and the taste of Christmas than a selection of luxury chocolates?

The following is a mouth-watering guide to good chocolate and the most famous winter sweets.

Chocolate

Among the undisputed protagonists of winter sweets is chocolate. During the Christmas period, this delicious food takes on an even more special role. If you are planning to buy Christmas chocolate, Venchi, an Italian company with 140 years of history and chocolate-making behind it, offers a wide selection of Christmas chocolates, packaged in elegant assorted boxes, and refined advent calendars, to give as gifts or to keep for yourself.

Choosing these chocolates means immersing yourself in a unique sensory experience, where centuries-old tradition and constant innovation come together in the extreme goodness of each praline.

Panettone and Pandoro

Icons of Italian Christmas confectionery, the Panettone and Pandoro represent a classic that is now popular all over the world. In Italy, no Christmas meal is complete without one or both of these. Enriched with icings, creams or chocolate chips, they are perfect to indulge in with a cup of tea, a hot chocolate or to end a dinner in style.

Christmas Pudding

Also known as plum pudding, Christmas Pudding is one of the most iconic Christmas sweets in British tradition and is typically prepared during the Advent season. Made with a mixture of dried fruits, spices, molasses, and often enriched with brandy or rum, it is steamed and left to rest for at least one night before being served at Christmas lunch. It can be served with whipped cream, which softens its strong flavour, or with a brandy cream or flavoured butter.

Christmas Cookies

With their intense and enveloping scent of cinnamon, ginger and cardamom, decorated biscuits are a must in the Christmas baking tradition and are now popular in many countries around the world. They are often served with a hot drink, but are also a great gift idea for friends and family. These biscuits can be decorated in a variety of ways such as with royal icing.

Creating special moments with chocolate

To turn chocolate into the leading dish for moments shared with friends and family, during lunches or dinners, the possibilities are many. You can serve it at the end of a meal or in the afternoon, accompanied by a fine distillate or tea, or surprise your guests with an exclusive tasting for an unforgettable experience. An original alternative is to present elegant assorted boxes, perfect for stimulating curiosity and the pleasure of tasting colourful and richly flavoured pralines.

Gifting chocolate

When it comes to Christmas gifts, sweets are a safe haven and choosing luxury chocolate is a choice that ensures the highest quality without neglecting refined packaging. Whether it is a box of pralines or an advent calendar, these products represent affordable luxury that makes every moment special.

Choosing artisanal chocolate also means embracing values, research and authenticity, supporting companies that use premium ingredients and age-old recipes.

Taste, elegance and conviviality are the main ingredients for unparalleled moments of relaxation, and chocolate and spices are undoubtedly the undisputed stars of this season.

Whether it is a gift or a small personal pampering, this is the right time to let winter sweets accompany your days and those of the people you love most.

Nor should it shock to find his tree gracing a famed London hotel where this form of celebrating the imminent arrival of Christmas has long been an annual event and one associated with a roll-call of illustrious designers and fashion houses – think Louis Vuitton, Jimmy Choo, Christopher Bailey, Karl Lagerfeld. The lobby of Claridge’s is justly famous for its seasonal display and the date for this year’s unveiling is the morning of Wednesday 20th November.

As a design collaboration, the overall effect is a wonderfully ludic commemoration of a traditional aspect of Christmas. DANISH luxury audio brand Bang & Olufsen are marking a century of market leading innovation with the Beoplay H100, described by Bang & Olufsen Director of Technology Neo Kaplanis as, “the best pair of headphones [B&O] have ever created.”

In an apt nod to B&O’s enduring prominence, the H100 prioritises durability, featuring replaceable components and serviceable hardware, a refreshing deviation from the planned obsolescence model that’s come to dominate modern tech.

The manufacture process also reflects this, utilising the Cradle-to-Cradle principal – a sustainable approach that utilises waste resources for the build of new tech, helping to make the industry at large more sustainable.

With the H100, B&O hope to prove that ethical manufacturing needn’t mean a dip in performance – delivering best-ever noise cancellation, and Hi-Res sound up to 96 kHz / 24 bits, inspired by the brand’s statement loudspeaker, the Beolab 90.

Aside from the hardware, the software that keeps the H100 ticking has also been future-proofed – constantly evolving and upgradable – ensuring the H100 isn’t outflanked by subsequent models and releases. Featuring 34-hour full charge performance (or 5 hours from a mere 5 minute charge), these wearable headphones have been built to last in every sense.

New features include EarSense, an adaptive noise cancellation upgrade, built to cater to a range of environments to ensure a fluid, uninterrupted listening experience. Through TrueTransparency, B&O’s new, dexterous control system, users are able to flit between absolute audio isolation, and exposure to the outside world with the flick of a dial.

BANG & OLUFSEN, the acclaimed Danish audio technology brand, has just announced Charles Leclerc as its newest Global Brand Ambassador, ushering in an exciting chapter for the company.

Despite Leclerc being known as one of the most talented F1 drivers of our times, the Monégasque driver spends his free time exploring his other hobbies, including, most notably, music.  Whether playing the piano or composing and recording his own music, Leclerc’s connection to sound plays an important part in his personal and professional life.

Charles Leclerc for Bang & Olufsen

“My professional life is all about precision and performance, and sound plays an important part in that. The cars I am driving are engineering marvels, and the sounds the produce inform me of the split-second decisions I need to take. This close attention to sound has trained my ear to listen differently, so quality of sound plays a vital role in my life. When I listen to music, I want a clarity in sound and a balance in tuning that reveals the music in new ways and brings me closer to the artist,” explains Leclerc.

Now, joining forces with Bang & Olufsen, Leclerc will help to produce campaigns and events and release a limited-edition product created by the Danish brand.

Charles Leclerc for Bang & Olufsen

Striving for acoustic innovation and unparalleled craftsmanship, Bang & Olufsen’s CEO Kristian Teär shares Leclerc’s excitement: “We are delighted to welcome Charles to the brand. We share the same appreciation for performance and craftsmanship and have a shared passion for music experiences that get us closer to the artists we love. We can’t think of a better partner to help us evolve and create a community around beautiful sound.”

Under the direction of Matthieu Blazy, the fashion house has partnered with Cassina and Fondation Le Corbusier to present On the Rocks, a large-scale installation at Palazzo San Fedele.

Bottega Veneta x Cassina and Le Corbusier

Based upon the LC14 Tabouret Cabanon – one of Le Corbusier’s timeless icons – the piece exemplifies the expertise of the Cassina carpentry workshop. The LC14 Tabouret was designed by Le Corbusier for his own cabin at Roquebrune-Cap-Martin on the Côte d’Azur.

Elegant and chic, the Tabouret was inspired by a wooden whiskey box that Le Corbusier discovered on the rocks beneath Le Cabanon.

On the Rocks will feature an array of custom LC14 Tabourets – all originally commissioned by Blazy for the Bottega Veneta autumn-winter 2024 show. The wooden editions utilise a traditional Japanese charring method, whereas the leather counterparts are adorned with a textural, painterly finish.

Available in red, yellow, blue and raintree green, the leather editions are a display of the house’s infallible expertise and craftsmanship. There will be 60 leather editions and 100 wooden editions available for purchase.

Similarly, the installation campaign is equally impressive. Lensed by Pierre Debusschere and starring Anok Yai, the Tabouret shines in all its glory.

Speaking on the campaign, Yai said: “It was so inspiring working with Matthieu and Bottega Veneta on this shoot, celebrating such an iconic piece of design. The collaborative environment and the versatility of the Tabouret created a real sense of openness and ease, empowering me to be dark, naked and free.”

On the Rocks will be open to the public from April 16th to April 20th. For more information, please visit here.

TAPPING into Christian Dior’s strong ties with the land of the Rising Sun, Dior Maison welcomes spring with a cherry blossom-inspired collection titled Les Cerisiers.

From an early age, Dior saw Japan as a place of wonder and fascination. Many argue that the designer had a special affection for Japan, with many of his initial designs being inspired by his various trips to major Japanese cities.

Later on in his career, the couturier welcomed the imperial family during a visit to Paris and designed three civil wedding dresses for Princess Michiko – the former Empress of Japan.

The new homeware collection builds upon the Maison’s strong ties with the country. Les Cerisiers is centred around motifs and themes from the spring-summer 1953 Jardin Japonais collection.

Tableware, glassware and table linens appear embellished with images from the seasonal ensemble such as the bird and the cherry blossom tree.

Similarly, the collection introduces two boxes developed in partnership with the Manufacture des Emaux de Longwy – an acclaimed enamel company established in 1798.

Intertwining Dior’s sophistication with the delicate pink hues of cherry blossom trees, the latest homeware collection makes for the perfect springtime greeting.
