SUMMER may be drawing to an end in the UK, at least – despite an unpromising start this year.  However, if you are a sun lover and want to preserve some of your sun-kissed glow, Chanel’s Les Beiges Healthy Glow collection  is a tried, tested and trusted way to do this. So, you can get endless summer skin courtesy of Chanel.

I spoke to the Glass Beauty Director Kim Brown to find out how to use these brilliant products which play a leading role in her professional, as well as personal, kit.

Les Beiges Bronzing Cream – £48

“I personally love this product because it’s so incredibly natural. It builds gradually with a finish that isn’t too matt or shimmery. It melts into the skin and creates a beautiful sun-kissed glow. I apply to the areas of the face where the sun naturally catches.“

Les Beiges Water Fresh Tint – £55

“This product actually contains skincare in the molecules. It looks a bit bubbly when you first pump it out. However, to use it, you buff it into the skin with a brush using light, circular movements. It just melts into the skin and gives this lovely dewy, fresh finish.

“It’s really lightweight but gives you just enough coverage. And I actually love it. I use it on myself all the time. Because it’s got lots of skincare in it, it doesn’t dry out during the day. It just stays really fresh looking – which I love.”

Les Beiges Highlighting Fluid – £47

“I think this highlighting fluid works really well for the parts of the face where you’d normally catch the light – the high cheek bones, the brow bones, a little bit down the nose and the bow of the lips. It just reflects light where it would naturally catch it. Sometimes, I like to mix it also with a moisturiser, before I apply it. Then you get this sort of glow from within. You only need a tiny little bit.

“It gives you this lovely, sort of, radiant glow underneath your foundation. Otherwise, you can just apply it with a blush, a brush or your fingertips. You can do this to highlight your cheekbones – and anywhere that you want to highlight.”

Les Beiges Eyeshadow Palette – £57

“The colours on this palette blend really well. They almost feel a bit creamy, but obviously set to a powder. They are really long lasting. And I like the fact that a lot of the shades are very matte, so you can just use a big blending eyeshadow brush and almost get a mood in the eye. It gives a lovely, sort of warm tint on the eye, rather than looking too makeup-y.”

“And then, it’s got a really nice shimmery highlight eyeshadow in the palette as well. That’s really nice, you know. You can use it just in the centre of the eyelid or in the corners of the eyes to really open the eye up. They’re just lovely, warm, sort of taupe-y browns, not too ashy. They are really flattering for most skin tones.”

Stylo Ombre Et Contour – £34

This pencil is super-easy to apply. I like to use it in the sort of socket of the eye, almost like a chunky kind of line, and then just blend it out with a brush. It’s got a really nice, creamy, sort of matte finish, and is really blendable and really easy.

“You can also use it like a kohl pencil, just a slightly Smokey look. It’s really easy to use, and it’s good for if you’re on the go. You can keep it in your make-up bag or in your handbag.”

Les Beiges Blush Stick – £42

“I literally can’t live without these. Again, they look like skin because of their cream texture. They give you a hint of colour and highlight at the same time. They give a really dewy finish. And you can also use it on the eyelids and the lips – if you like that sort of slightly dewy eyelid look which a lot of people love. I know I do.  It comes in quite a few different colours. The transparent ones are also amazing. I use them on the upper part of the cheek.”

“I don’t really use them on the apples of the cheek, because you don’t want too much highlight or light there. I use it slightly higher up, and it’s quite sculpting, They are super flattering and youth-giving, I would say, just because of the fresh, dewy finish.”

TRANSLATING winter sun into make-up, Chanel’s latest Les Beiges collection brings that alpine glow back to your face.

Creating a line that gives the impression that you have spent a day in the mountains, the five product capsule is your one-way ticket to a natural, rosy tint. Comprised of five products – blush, primer, eyeshadow, tinted lip balm and nail polish – Les Beiges makes sure all categories are covered.

The new Les Beiges Healthy Glow Blush (£54) is made with concentrated pearlescent particles that give your cheekbones a touch of colour to give that immediate in-from-the-cold appearance. Arriving in pink, coral and mauve shades, you can get that natural flush with one stroke.

For a winter complexion with a little shine that both plumps and blurs imperfections, the Les Beiges Healthy Winter Glow Primer (£48)is close to being an iridescent veil. Available in three shades – lilac, icy beige with peach, and coppery pink – the formula is made to give a frosted glimmer with the help of jasmine-infused oil, camellia seed oil and hyaluronic acid for long-lasting comfort.

The limited edition Les Beiges Healthy Glow Natural Eyeshadow (£53) brings intensity to your eyes with five ethereal shades of pink and purple.

The Rouge Coco Baume (£34)debuts in three new shades, all made with la a lip-conditioning formula that delivers instant hydration, while the softness of winter colours also touches the tips of your fingers in two new Les Vernis (£29) nail polish shades.

Glass speaks to Chanel Makeup Artist Ninni Nummela @ninninummela to get the inside tips on this collection.

What is the best way to use the primer?

Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Winter Glow Primer is more than a primer. It blurs the skin and gives it a beautiful healthy glow without looking like you’re wearing makeup.

I recommend applying it on top of your moisturiser, and concentrating on areas where the light would naturally hit your face; high on top of the cheekbones, down the nose, middle of forehead and chin, and even a dab on the brow bone. It instantly brightens your complexion.

Where would you suggest placing the blush?

Think of mimicking that natural flush you get when you’ve been out in the cold. With a big brush sweep the blush high on top of the apples of your cheeks and lightly blend downwards and out. Make sure to blend well for a seamless natural finish.

The new Les Beiges Healthy Winter Glow blushers are perfect for this look because of their creamy powder texture. They beautifully sink into the skin and reflect the light.

To choose your shade, pinch your cheeks and match the blusher to your natural flush.

What’s the best way to achieve ‘In from the cold’ makeup?

The first thing you often notice when you’ve been out in the cold is your glowing skin and rosy cheeks. This is because the cold air increases blood circulation to warm up the skin.

To achieve this healthy look with makeup, start by applying a rich moisturiser such as the N°1 de Chanel Rich Revitalizing Cream. For that extra outdoor glow, blend the primer on the areas where the light naturally hits your face first; on top of the cheekbones, down the nose, forehead, and chin.

Use a concealer or a light textured foundation such as my favourite, Les Beiges Complexion Touch, to diffuse any blemishes, redness, or under-eye darkness. Finish with a sweep of blusher and a slick of one of the nourishing Chanel Rouge Coco Baume tinted lip balms.

What is the one thing from the collection that is essential?

The primer is essential for this time of the year as it’s so subtle and gives the most beautiful glow to the skin.

My other favourite product from the collection is the Rouge Coco Baume in Keep Cool. It has a frostiness to it and a flattering nude rosy shade when applied to the lips.

CHANEL hosted their 2023/24 Métiers d’art collection in Manchester inspired by the brilliant colours founder Gabrielle Chanel brought to her tweeds.

The fashion house’s current creative director, Virginie Viard, adds vibrancy and a pop element to them this season, accompanying each outfit with a sixties-inspired make-up look reflecting the music scene and personal style of Manchester’s locals.

Chanel Métiers d’art 2023/24

Chanel Métiers d’art 2023/24

Manchester is an esteemed city famed for its music culture, a concept Viard believes encourages creativity. The show which took place at Thomas Street in North Manchester, was influenced by the concept of feelings.

The show saw a collection of various suits, bags and pearls paired with shimmering make-up looks and an eyeshadow palette of salmon pink, pumpkin, apple green, mustard, sky blue, red and rust.

Chanel Métiers d’art 2023/24

Chanel Métiers d’art 2023/24

The collection rounds up the longstanding youthful love affair shared between Chanel and Great Britain, and the make-up artistry, which illustrates themes of Manchester’s music scene, demonstrates graphic reverse eyeliner, vibrant blush palettes and strong eyebrows.

The perfect base was created using the Les Beiges Water-Fresh Complexion Touch, and imperfections were covered using the Le Correcteur De Chanel.

Chanel Métiers d’art 2023/24

Chanel Métiers d’art 2023/24

A pop of colour and freshness was added to each look using Joues Contraste in 64 Pink Explosion on the apples of the cheeks and temples. Applied to the upper cheekbones, the Baume Essentiel Lilas gave the face an overall glowy look.

Chanel Métiers d’art 2023/24

Chanel Métiers d’art 2023/24

As for the eyebrows, Stylo Sourcils Waterproof was used to fill them in, and the Le Gel Sourcils in Transparent created depth to the hairs. The eyes saw the Stylo Ombre and Contour Rouge Noir smudged out onto the outside of the lower lashline while the Le Crayon Yeux in 10 Blue Jean painted the lids.

Chanel Métiers d’art 2023/24

Make Up at Chanel Métiers d’art 2023/24

To finalise the looks, the Rouge Coco Flash Freeze exaggerated the lips and the nails were painted using the La Base Camelia as a preparation coat, followed by Le Vernis De Chanel in 111 Ballerina or 127 Fugueuse and topped off with the Le Gel Coat for some added shine.

THE LEADING skincare, perfume and beauty brand Guerlain has just announced their festive season collaboration, Beelieve In Fantasy, with esteemed jeweller Begüm Khan.

The Turkish jeweller brings a unique perspective to the brand as she pays homage to the Guerlain’s house symbol, the bee. Each product is created from fine materials and exhibits a fantasy world of unique animals.

The brand offers beautifully packaged gift sets to purchase for loved ones alongside advent calendars, hiding various iconic Guerlain products behind its doors. This gift allows its receiver to enjoy products ranging from candles to perfumable ceramics to skincare and beauty.

Guerlain Christmas 2023 with Begüm Khan

As for make-up, the luxurious Jewel lipstick case is reimagined into two new styles, Glittery Tiger, featuring velvet tiger stripes with holographic highlights and the Feline Fantasy in black and green leopard print. The cases house three shades of N°234 Roaring Red, N°521 Flamingo Pink and N°41 Untamed Garnet (£32 each).

An eye shadow palette quad titled 879 Glittery Tiger Ombres G (£68), is also embellished with the velvet tiger print and the inside displays four rich colours of shimmering gold, a sophisticated green, satin pink and a deep purple — colours suitable for the festive season.

The brand also reinterprets the esteemed 03 Terracotta bronzer (£46) in this collection with a newly designed casing featuring an exclusive leopard pattern sprayed with gold.

Another best-seller artistically redesigned in line with the Christmas collection’s thematics is the 2 Light Météorite displayed in a refined case of black and green, demonstrating a tortoise scale-like outline. The Météorites Fierce Glow (£54) will be available under limited supply over the festive season.

Guerlain Christmas 2023 with Begüm Khan

The collection expands into artfully crafted perfume bottles and lipstick cases featuring the house’s symbolic bee and various animals.

The Rouge G Fantasy Bee gift set (£800) displays a festive lipstick case featuring a jewelled bee embedded with 280 hand-placed gems, carefully created by Khan in her atelier in Turkey.

The lipsticks come in the shades 880 Ruby Red, the satin 03 Light Rosewood and 214 Brick Red. The lipsticks are placed into a beautiful box of green and black, featuring the repeated leopard print pattern.

Guerlain Christmas 2023 with Begüm Khan

Begüm Khan also designed the Bee Bottle perfume, titled Imagine Guerlain 2023 Millésime by Begüm Khan (£830), showcasing an imperial bee on a flower at the centre of its structure crafted from 24-carat gold-plated bronze.

Together, the bee and flower demonstrate a charming aura, and the bee displays 37 shimmering hand-set paved gems. The perfume exudes scents of citrus orange and floral notes with hints of woodiness.

The Bee Bottle by Begüm Khan (£9,500) is another take on the iconic bottle and showcases a beetle sitting on the one-litre container. Surrounding it are countless crystals displaying a rosette.

As for the finalising items, the L’Art and La Matière Jewellery Plates (£110 each) display the Maison’s symbolic bee amongst some of Khan’s favourite animals, including the beetle, the tortoise, the frog, and the tiger, all representing significant qualities.

Each plate is intricately paved with hundreds of gems in various hues and honours the magic that has propelled Guerlain throughout its steady success.

CHANEL showcased its behind-the-scenes backstage show preparation for their spring-summer 2024 collection which recently debuted during Paris Fashion Week.

With inspiration derived from the artistic essence inherent to the Villa Noailles and lavish flowers situated in the south of France, the thematics of vitality were clear throughout Chanel’s SS24 collection, dreamt up by Virginie Viard.

Chanel Beauty SS24

The show, which took place at the Grand Palais Éphémère in Paris, demonstrated a collection of relaxed yet sophisticated silhouettes showcasing the brand’s take on nonchalance and elegance.

In order to exaggerate the overall laid-back nature of the collection, the make-up was kept to a minimum leaving the models looking fresh with a simple face to mirror the casual elegance which sat at the root of the collection.

Abby Champion backstage at Chanel SS24

The make-up routine utilised Chanel’s beauty products including the Les Beiges Water-Fresh Complexion Touch, Le Correcteur De Chanel and Poudre Universelle Libre for the base, and a touch of Joues Contraste 64 Pink Explosion on the cheeks, temples and forehead to create a fresh and healthy glow.

Mica Argañaraz backstage at Chanel SS24

The eyebrows were filled in using the Stylo Sourcils Waterproof brow pen and then layered with the Gel Sourcils in the shade Transparent to add depth. As for the eyes, the Stylo Ombre and Contour in 12 Contour Clair or 04 Electric Brown were smudged outside the lower lash line giving the eyes some added definition.

A touch of sienna pink button from the palette Les 4 Ombres Byzance 308 Parure Imperiale was added to the crease of the eye, giving it a wash of colour yet keeping the look clean.

Jade Nguyen backstage at Chanel SS24

The mascara used is the Le Volume in shades 80 Écorse and 10 Noir to give the eyes a soft sharpness and 31 Le Rouge Beige or 31 Le Rouge 2.55 was used all over the lips displaying a succulent yet natural finish.

Darkest black with a drop of red for drama, Noir Allure has a unique brush which is made of spikes rather than bristles which help separate the lashes as well as building coverage so you can create the look you want.

And when it comes to removing, that is a cinch – my regular cleanser does the job easily. This mascara is a thing of beauty.

THE Oshun eyeshadow palette from OPV Beauty is as divine as its name. Inspired by the Yoruba goddess of love and sensuality, Oshun, the eyeshadow palette is chock-full of sparkling neutrals and golds.

A cartoon drawing of Oshun graces the front of the palette and acts as a perfect source of inspiration for a stunning eye makeup look. There are 12 eyeshadows in total, eight shimmers and four mattes.

The colour range is primarily golds, browns and bronzes with an unexpected neon orange shade and rich maroon. The palette is 9cm by 6cm in size.

WE may have been able to say good riddance to 2021, however, we are yet to do the same to the wear and tear to winter skin. This January, Bobbi Brown’s best-selling Vitamin Enriched Face Base might be what you need to help muster up the vibrant glow we all long for through the remaining frosty months.

Relaunched this year, Bobbi Brown boasts to sell one of these little pots of wonder every 24 seconds globally. The aim is to reveal a softer and smoother surface in order to create the perfect base.

It acts as a fusion of a moisturiser and a primer, catering to those who often neglect the priming stage and skip straight to makeup application. The Face Base has been viewed an impressive 112.7 million times on TikTok, with popular content creators, such as @allthingsrissa and @milliemacmakeup, vouching for the results.

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base

Bobbi Brown’s concoction of hyaluronic acid and shea butter with a vitamin B5, C and E blend forms their signature lightweight formula. This allows it to be absorbed quickly in preparation for any coverage which may then be layered on top.

While the acid works on hydration, the vitamins will help to moisturise and plump the skin throughout the day. The results? A brighter and softer base, prepped for any of the elements.

by Pia Brynteson

The Vitamin Enriched Face Base retails at £46.50 for 50ml and can be bought at Bobbi Brown.
